12AU7 is a medium gain dual triode. Due to the combination of low grid-plate capacitance and medium gain, it is suited for use in audio voltage amplifier with extended range.
The 5814A is a military/industrial grade 12AU7. Some versions of 5814 tubes have thicker micas and supporting rods to minimize microphonics.
5963 is a version of 12AU7 designed for use in vacuum tube computers.

Originally designed for computer switching applications, 5963 is a highly linear replacement for 12AU7, but with lower plate voltage. It is a low cost alternative to NOS 12AU7. Manufacturers may vary.
