- You are all done!
Do you ship Internationally? We welcome international orders. We are seasoned experts at shipping vacuum tubes, and our shipper is knowledgeable about paperwork requirements for many countries. This means you won't get stuck with unnecessary tariffs and fees.
Unfortunately, we do not ship to certain countries due to security issues. You can see the list of countries we ship to on our shipping checkout page.
How much is shipping to... ?We are working on adding shipping calculator to the site. In the meantime:
Put the products in shopping cart, and enter shipping address. Proceed to the next page, and it'll show you the estimated shipping cost.
Nothing gets recorded until you checkout fully, so you can do this as many times as you want.
What are the shipping, payment and return policy? Please refer to Shipping & Returns.
How about local pickup?Sorry, we are an Internet-only eCommerce business.
How many tubes in pair, quads, and do I need to multiply prices? There is no need to multiply. Our matched pair price is for two matching tubes. Likewise for quads (4 tubes) and other sets.
Do you have sets of 6 or 8 and how much are they?We often do have larger matching sets in stock, so please feel free to inquire. We can also match and select any arbitrary sized sets.
Price is multiple of pairs (i.e. price of sextet = price of pairs x 3 ). Extra matching fee may apply depending on the size and the type of tube.
Are the power tubes burned-in?We burn-in power tubes before matching to maxmize stability and weed out early defects. Unlike some vendors, this is at no extra charge, and included in our prices.
What is a 'triode matched' preamp tube?Small signal tubes like 6DJ8 and 12AX7 contain two triodes. In output driver position, it is often beneficial to have these two sections matched. We offer triode matching for all dual triode preamp tubes.
Are your pre-tube 'matched pairs' also triode matched?Yes they are. As an example, our 12AX7 matched pairs will have same test numbers for all the triodes: i.e. Tube 1 = 80/80, Tube 2 = 80/80. We mark this pair as 80, meaning every triode is balanced, measuring at 80.
Note that some vendors sell unevenly matched tubes as pairs (i.e. Tube 1 = 60/90, Tube 2 = 60/90 ), and charge extra for balanced and matched pairs. Our matched preamp tubes are always matched all the way for the price listed.
What is the best tube for my amp? There is really no answer to this, as everyone's gear, setup, and taste are different. We are happy to share our experiences and customer feedbacks, so you can make an informed decision.
I'd like to talk to you on the phoneWe apologize that we don't always have someone attending the phone. If we don't answer the phone, please do try emailing us. We normally answer emails within 24 hours.
I just ordered but I didn't get any confirmation emailWe have found that some of our cusomers sometimes have overzealous spam filters. If you are expecting emails from us and not seeing it, please look in your spam box first. If you still don't see emails from us, please send us an email. We will then do our best to establish connection with you.
How does a vacuum tube work?In layman's term, a tube works like a faucet.
- There is a supply with lots of pressure, and you control the flow by opening and closing a valve.
- Source of water supply is the tube's Plate, faucet valve is the Grid, the sink drain is the Cathode.
- Some tubes come with extra grids, which is like having more faucet valves in series.
- A tube's conductance is equivalent to how sensitive the faucet valve is. High conductance means when a small change in valve makes a bigger difference in water flow.
Incidentally, we should give credit to English people for correctly referring to Vacuum Tubes as Electron Valves.
If I replace 6550 to higher rated KT90 or KT120, do I get more power? Most likely not. An amp output is determined pretty much by its circuitry, and 6550 and KT90 have the same transfer curve so circuit behaves the same.
Where are you located? We are based in San Diego, California.
How do you pronounce the name? Our name is pronounced Bee-Oh-Eye AudioWorks. You can pronounce it 'Boeee' if you must, but that may be detrimental to your reputation amongst friends.
